EVENTS
Seminar: When and why to steek?
Sit down with a cup of tea and a treat from The Great Pastry Shop and listen while Ethan discusses the ins and outs of selecting yarns and colours for colourwork.
Saturday, April 10, 2021 3pm-4pm in the Outlaw Den (at HQ)
"Steeking is the process we use to cut our knitting. Steeking is primarily involved with colourwork although there are other ways to apply the same technique. The big questions we will seek to answer are both the when and the why of the steek! Join us to have the power of steeking demystified and to learn why we should not be afraid to cut our knitting." - Ethan

Weekly Classes
Crochet Crafternoon with Pearlin is our newest group! We are bringing a weekly chance to get together with other Crocheters and other makers to develop your skills and spend time learning and making together.
We highly encourage beginner and new crocheters to come to this time and learn to make a granny square, the foundation of many crochet projects, and progress to learning new techniques and skills over time. Our group focus is to raise the awareness of the beauty and ease of crochet and to welcome as many different crocheters as possible to our making community. Come in and make something beautiful. |
The Outlaw Beginning Knitting is a free, recurring, drop-in session designed to make knitting an approachable, community-oriented experience. In this session, you learn the basic skills of knitting at your own pace, in a fun, creative environment. Rather than a traditionally structured class, this drop-in session is designed to work with your schedule - drop in during any session and we will help you get over road bumps and teach the next skill. If you have a friend or family member who you think would love knitting, let them know and bring them down to HQ.
All are welcome. If you bring a child, please make sure there is a parent or guardian available to supervise and assist throughout the entire learning process. |

CLASSES
Colourwork Skills Series 2021
Colourwork has never faded away but it is back with a vengeance and we are here to help you meet your colourwork goals of 2021 and beyond. We have built a system to help you build the critical skills for colourwork: choosing yarns and colours, when and why to steek, two handed colourwork, and how to steek! The classes are shorter and run more frequently spread out fortnightly to give you time to work through a complete project over the course of the 8 week period. We have the dates and classes here for you as well as a method of selecting patterns so that you can choose one of ours or bring your own to the class.

Two Handed ColourworkThe mystery of two handed colourwork is the greatest skill to unlock for an aspiring colourwork knitter as it will allow you to move with greater speed and ease through each pattern you find. Beginning with a smaller project like a hat allows a knitter to have relatively fewer stitches to work with and to make progress on a project even in a shorter class.

Check in 1All colourwork projects are welcome at this session, bring in whatever you are working on. If you decided to cast on a project or a swatch for the Steeking Class at the end of the session bring it in to meet with Ethan and your fellow knitters to see if you are on track. The check-in is also a great time to get started or work on some finishing if you are going to make more than one project during the 8 week period.
